De-Evolution

Statement

Humanity prides itself on evolution—on its progress from primitive existence to technological and intellectual mastery. Yet, beneath the surface of advancement, a paradox emerges: a moral regression that questions the very notion of progress. DE-EVOLUTION is an exploration of this contradiction, a visual meditation on how, despite evolving from primates, we seem to be circling back—losing our ethical compass in a world of power, conflict, and self-destruction.

Through layered compositions, bold contrasts, and symbolic references, these paintings depict a world where technology, violence, and mythology intertwine. Each piece serves as a reflection on the fragility of civilization, the tension between creation and destruction, and the unsettling reality that as our capabilities expand, our moral foundation crumbles.

The process itself mirrors this concept. Beginning with constructed arrangements—partly influenced by childhood games—I approach each work as an experiment in composition and meaning. These initial setups become the foundation for painterly exploration, where organic transformations override rigid narratives. The result is an interplay of form and texture, where still life objects, machinery, and figures dissolve into something primal yet disturbingly modern.

DE-EVOLUTION is not merely a critique; it is an invitation to reflect on the trajectory we have chosen. Are we truly evolving, or merely refining the art of our own undoing?
